Babies Self-Pleasure in the Womb
“Stop touching yourself.”
“No, don’t do that.”
It’s common for parents to project their own shame onto children when they see them self-pleasuring.
As babies we self-pleasure in the womb because it feels good. We enter out into the world and we continue doing what feels good. It’s normal for children not to know the most appropriate space or social setting for this natural and normal, feel good activity.
Rather than passing on the shame that may have been projected onto you as a child, try this:
“I can see you’re enjoying touching yourself there, and that’s fine, it’s best not to do that in public places or when other people are around though. Your bedroom is the best place to enjoy that.”
Self-pleasure is NATURAL and NORMAL.
